Check out this quote from Coldplay...

I saw this quote from the lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, and I had to wonder if he really believes what he said...  "The spirit of rock and roll is freedom.  It's about following what you believe in and not caring what anyone else says." (Rolling Stone, June 26, 2008)

That very well may be the philosophy of Rock and Roll, and Coldplay may be excellent at communicating that through their music.  I'm certainly no expert, but from what I hear their music is some of the best out there. But I would love to ask him if he really believes that is the philosophy to live by?  It sounds great to our postmodern ears doesn't it?  It's not important what you believe it is just important that you find out what you personally believe in and the following that no matter what other people think.  You are your own person, you don't need authority in your life telling you what to believe, and you don't need to conform to what everybody else believes, just be your own individual, find your own truth, and live according to that with a passion.  I can see why that is appealing, and if that is the theme of their music I can understand why it is so appealing.  But does it work and are these words to live by?

The terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center, do you know what they were doing?  They were following "what they believe in and not caring what anyone else says."  The millions of people in the world who suppress the rights of women and treat them as second class citizens, do you know what they are doing?  They are following "what they believe in and not caring what anyone else says."  The perverted who download child pornography on the internet, do you know what they are doing?  They are following "what they believe in and not caring what anyone else says."

I appreciate Martin's challenge to our generation to live passionately according to what you believe in, but what if what you believe in is wrong?  The key to life is finding what is right and true and living according to that no matter what anyone else says.  And that is what we are trying to do.  A twentyfour:6 generation is a generation that lives according to what they believe in no matter what others say, but what they believe in is Jesus Christ and his gospel!

We should fight for what we believe in... as long as it is for the greater good.

Everybody has a belief and most people care wether their beliving in truth or radicallism(bad raicallism). Most people will go a head and defend their belief in trying to stenghten their faith or just to defend their belief. I personally believe in Jesus Christ because he is the way and the only way, Jesus gave up everything to come down to live and die for humans (which don't diserve his love or salvation). I continually and faithfully follow Jesus wether other call it blind or ignorance. I know from a deep personal relationship with Jesus that Jesus found and saved...
